Born and raised in Los Angeles, she studied art from such prestigious art programs of U.C.S.B., U.C.L.A. and Otis Parsons. Her BFA degree led her to numerous commissions and onward to create public art murals with grants from major corporations. She is collected internationally and is proud to be a member of the Laguna Beach artist community.

Kathe's recent work is suggestive of nature in the representational realm. She is drawn towards non-convential colors and juxtaposes them with softer more feminine hues. Her shapes and linear patterns reflect a sense of freedom and stability, a strong comment on her life in the moment.

Raising two children has a direct influence on her painting. Compositionally, she contrives an image and then manipulates it to the point of obliteration, at times, to express the inability to fully control one's life or those around you.

Kathe is a member of "Art Connects L.A.", an organization that donates art to charities where it can be viewed and enjoyed by the public and those persons served by such charities. She has donated a number of murals. Additionally, a percentage of all Kathe's sales go toward cancer research of the charity of the client's choice.

Kathe currently works in her studio located at 1294 Pacific Coast Highway, Unit E, in Laguna Beach. She is available by appointment. Please contact Betsy Mackel for press releases, show scheduling and new work information.
